She made an eye-catching appearance in a red dress at the premiere of her new film Labor Day on Monday evening.

But on Tuesday Kate Winslet clearly fancied something a little more low-key when she was spotted out and about in London.

article-2460951-18C011C900000578-926_306x674 article-2460951-18C012C600000578-522_306x674 article-2460951-18C012CE00000578-383_634x1039 article-2460951-18C012D500000578-698_634x757 article-2460951-18C0118E00000578-172_634x911

The expectant mother gave a lesson in chic maternity wear as she stepped out in a very flattering black dress which hugged her growing bump.

Showing she’s not planning on slowing down any time soon the 38-year-old made a quick dash from her car to a venue in Mayfair.

The dress fell just above her knees and while it featured a wraparound low-cut neck line it still remained very demure.

She teamed the dress with a pair of black stiletto heels showing she’s not suffering from the dreaded swollen ankles many women have to deal with when expecting.

Her blonde hair had been styled casually off her face in a ponytail with sections falling from the front to frame her relatively make-up free face.

The actress, who is expecting her third child and first with her husband Ned Rocknroll, didn’t look in the least bit tired despite her red carpet antics the evening before.

Speaking at the event, Kate said: ‘I haven’t had many cravings. I’ve been wanting to drink a lot of orange juice but I don’t know if that is part of it.’

Asked whether she would be taking a long maternity leave, she replied: ‘Err… Ask me that on a different red carpet, I’ve got pregnancy brain!’

In Labor Day, Kate plays a single mother who unwittingly takes in an escaped convict (Brolin) and gives him shelter, but her relationship with the man begins threatening her bond with her teenage son, played by Gattlin Griffith.

Speaking at a press conference for Labor Day earlier this week , Kate – who is already mother to Mia 13, and Joe, nine – was full of praise for 14-year-old Griffith, admitting she was quite motherly on set.

The pregnant star said: ‘It was one of the most wonderful working relationships I’ve ever had because it was honestly such a privilege to spend that amount of time with someone who’s that lovely at that particular age, which is the most gorgeous age for a young girl or boy.

‘Early on, my big thing to him was to say, ‘You’re terrified – don’t worry, so am I, so is Josh, so is Jason, and so is everyone else.’

Winslet, 38, is expecting her third child.

Kate Winslet isn’t really getting the jokes everyone keeps trying to make about her upcoming labor and our Labor Day holiday just as her new movie, Labor Day, is about to hit theaters.

“Labor Day for us is just a day you give birth,” explained the British actress at Monday night’s London premiere. “It’s a coincidence that you guys keep having fun with.”

(It’s also so last month!)

The red-hot mama-to-be was draped in a crepe dress by Jenny Packham and De Beers diamond jewelry for her red carpet appearance and took questions in stride, including one about cravings.

‘I haven’t had many cravings,” she said, reports the Daily Mail. “I’ve been wanting to drink a lot of orange juice but I don’t know if that is part of it.”

Asked whether she would be taking a long maternity leave, she replied: “Err … Ask me that on a different red carpet, I’ve got pregnancy brain!”

Winslet, 38, announced in June that she’s pregnant with her third child, the first with husband Ned Rocknroll, Richard Branson’s nephew.

Meanwhile, look for Winslet on the November Vogue cover. Huffington Post thinks she’s too airbrushed. But isn’t that what mag covers are all about?

Kate Winslet On Her New Love, New Movies, and New Life
by Vicki Woods | photographed by Mario Testino

Kate Winslet has always gone her own way. Now, with two new movies, a new husband, and a new baby due, the brilliant British actress tells Vicki Woods that her life has never been better.

Vogue’s cover shoot is wrapped, and the voluptuous, golden-haired odalisque who just finished up a steamy London weekend (long days with nice food but no AC) smoldering for these pictures has disappeared. In her place is a feisty little madam in a maternity dress and flip-flops, who is in a ding-dong spat with the photographer. When she flounces away, he hollers at her disappearing back, so she spins around and yells at him in a London-street voice: “Actually, Mario, do you even know how to take a fuckin’ photograph?” Then she picks up a hand mirror, sits down, and starts pulling out her own eyelashes. And Testino laughs and laughs. Everybody laughs. Because Kate Winslet, who was honored last year as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth (“for services rendered to drama”), is, as they say in her native England, pretty full-on. This is a euphemism. Winslet sprinkles her speech with many occurrences of the salty expletive I misspelled above. We won’t print any more, but my transcript throbs with them.

Kate Winslet Reveals Pregnancy Cravings, Jokes She Might Wet Herself at Labor Day Premiere
Celebrity Moms October 14, 2013 AT 7:00PM By Allison Takeda

Kate Winslet revealed to Us Weekly what she’s craving while pregnant at the London premiere of her movie Labor Day on Oct. 14

Listen up, Tropicana! Four months after Kate Winslet’s rep confirmed her pregnancy to Us Weekly, the soon-to-be third time mom hit the red carpet at the Oct. 14 BFI London Film Festival premiere of her new movie, Labor Day, where she talked with Us about what she’s craving as she prepares to give birth to her first child with husband Ned Rocknroll.

“At the moment I seem to be wanting orange juice a lot,” the gorgeous Brit, 38, shared with Us outside Odeon Cinema in London’s Leicester Square. “I don’t know quite why that is, but it’s not so weird. I wish I could tell you I had some weird craving. I wish I could be like that woman on the advert who loves tuna fish and banana, but I’m not like that at all.”

In fact, Winslet’s third pregnancy — she’s also mom to son Joe, 9, with ex-husband Sam Mendes, and daughter Mia, 13, with ex-husband Jim Threapleton — has been a relatively smooth one thus far. Asked if it’s difficult having to do press while approaching her third trimester, the Oscar winner said, “It’s fine, actually. I mean, I’ve still got a way to go, so I’m not quite waddling.”

There is one risk, though. “Just don’t let me sneeze, because I might wet myself at the same time,” she quipped good-naturedly.

The Mildred Pierce star, stunning in a scarlet-red Jenny Packham gown, also spoke with Us about feeling extra emotional while pregnant. She admitted it was hard to watch Labor Day — a drama costarring Josh Brolin — without tearing up.

“I sat down with two friends and watched it the night before it screened in Toronto, and I thought, ‘Why am I doing this?’ There are some particularly difficult scenes that involve my character and an infant, and I just kinda wanted to run out of the movie theater right away,” she explained. “I’m really proud of the movie. It is incredibly moving, but I think I won’t watch it again for a little while now.”

As previously reported, Winslet is expecting her third child at the end of 2013. She and Rocknroll, the eccentric nephew of billionaire Richard Branson, secretly wed in December 2012.

Winslet ‘absorbed in baby world’

Kate Winslet says she had no idea about the awards buzz surrounding her film, Labor Day, because she is “so absorbed in baby world”.

The actress, who announced she was pregnant in June, was speaking to the BBC’s Lizo Mzimba on the red carpet ahead of the film’s London premiere.

Also starring Josh Brolin, it tells the story of a divorced mother and her 13-year-old son who offer an injured man a place to stay with drastic consequences.

She told the BBC the role was quite different for her, as she was “a lot more fragile and fragmented than a lot of the characters I’ve played in the past.”

Kate Winslet: Actress Plays Down Oscar Talk
7:19pm UK, Monday 14 October 2013

The heavily pregnant 38-year-old says she is too focused on her third baby as she appears on the red carpet in London.

Actress Kate Winslet has played down her chances of winning another Oscar after braving the rain to attend the gala screening of Labor Day in London’s Leicester Square.

The 38-year-old stars as Adele Wheeler in the drama, a single mother who with her son picks up a hitch-hiking convict during the US holiday weekend.

Josh Brolin, son of actor James Brolin and stepson of Barbra Streisand, plays the mysterious stranger.

The Titanic actress, who is heavily pregnant with her third child, told Sky News she was “too absorbed in baby” to think about winning an Oscar.

She said: “It hasn’t even crossed my mind, I’m so absorbed in baby.

“Awards season is always a huge amount of fun whether you’re a part of it or not, it’s always really exciting seeing what films are coming and a lot of new talent as well.

“I think this year is a really exciting year for film.”

Winslet is married to Ned Rocknroll, Sir Richard Branson’s nephew.

She has two children – Mia, 12, from her first marriage to Jim Threapleton and Joe, nine, from her marriage to Sam Mendes.

Labor Day, directed by Jason Reitman and set in 1987, is adapted from Joyce Maynard’s novel of the same name.

Gattlin Griffith stars as Henry, while Tobey Maguire plays him as an older man.

Labor Day is released in the UK in February 2014.

Kate: babies on the brain, not awards
added: 14 Oct 2013 // by: Film-News.co.uk Newsdesk

Kate Winslet has confessed she’s not even thought about bagging another Oscar as her mind is too busy with her third pregnancy.

The 38-year-old actress was in London tonight for the premier of her new movie Labor Day.

She has previously scooped an Oscar for her portrayal of a Nazi war criminal in the 2008 film The Reader.

“It hasn’t even crossed my mind, I’m so absorbed in baby. Awards season is always a huge amount of fun whether you’re a part of it or not.

“It’s always really exciting seeing what films are coming and a lot of new talent as well. I think this year is a really exciting year for film,” she told Sky News.

Labor Day tells the story of depressed single mom Adele (played by Kate) and her son Henry after they offer a wounded, fearsome man a ride. As police search town for the escaped convict, the mother and son gradually learn his true story as their options become increasingly limited.

Co-starring Josh Brolin and Tobey Maguire, the film has already been well received by critics.

Kate’s third child will be the Revolutionary Road star’s first with her husband Ned Rocknroll, the nephew of Sir Richard Branson.

She has two children from her two former marriages, 12-year-old Mia from her marriage to Jim Threapleton, and Joe, nine from her marriage to Sam Mendes.

Kate Winslet Was Comfortable With No Rehearsals For Labour Day
14 October 2013

Kate Winslet says she was glad that director Jason Reitman chose not to rehearse scenes for new film Labour Day.

Winslet teams up with director Reitman and actor Josh Brolin for the new drama: a drama that is screening at the BFI London Film Festival.

Speaking at the press conference at the festival this afternoon Winslet said she was more than happy to not to rehearse.

“One thing Jason chooses to do is not rehearse. I think Jason was quite worried that I might be like, ‘We have to have rehearsals!’ But I don’t care about rehearsals.

“I very much felt that Jason’s choice to not rehearse lent itself particularly to ‘Labour Day’, because for us as actors, we genuinely didn’t know what he was going to do next, what he would want of us as actors.

“I was always very grateful that we hadn’t marked everything out, and although, we ourselves had done our own homework in knowing who we wanted our characters to be, nothing was revealed until each day [on set].”

Labour Day is the first time that Winslet has teamed up with Brolin as she takes on the role of a single mother who helps hid a convict.

We haven’t seen Winslet on the big screen since Movie 43 at the beginning of the year. Labour Day is just one of the films that we will be seeing Winslet star in next year as she has also completed work on Divergent and A Little Chaos.

Labour Day is released 7th February 2014

Kate Winslet on her ‘fragile’ new role
14 October 2013 Last updated at 12:56 ET

Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin in Labor Day The film takes place over a bank holiday weekend in 1987

Kate Winslet has said her new film Labor Day marks a departure from the strong, feisty women she is used to playing.

The Titanic and Little Children star appears alongside Josh Brolin in a much more “fragile” role, as a troubled single mother who is forced to take an escaped prisoner into her home.

“I haven’t really played a character who was so obviously weak in so many ways,” Winslet said at the London Film Festival.

“That was intriguing to me. But I admired her strength as well and I felt it was very important that she was strong, because I think that we all have the capacity to be both of those things, no matter how broken a person can sometimes be.”

Winslet, who won an Oscar for her performance as Nazi concentration camp guard Hanna Schmitz in The Reader, said she loved the fact that her character Adele still managed to be “a good mother” to her teenage son.

And she admitted to mothering 14-year-old co-star Gattlin Griffith, who played son Henry, off camera too.

“It was one of the most wonderful working relationships that I’ve ever had,” said Winslet.

“I just knew that I had to really be his friend and I wanted to guide him. I mean he was really my priority on set.”

Luckily the actress also found time to bond with Brolin, who revealed he “adored” his co-star.

“I think we were very lucky,” said Winslet. “Because I mean I hate Leo (DiCaprio) for example.”

“Obviously that was a joke!” she quickly added, referring to the long-running friendship with her Titanic and Revolutionary Road co-star DiCaprio.

Brolin, who plays Frank, a man on the run after 19 years behind bars, revealed they have come in for some stick about the relationship that develops between him and Adele.

“You know I’ve heard it a couple of times. ‘It’s not very likely this would happen’,” said Brolin

“And then you go in to watch Jurassic Park, and you go, ‘But this would?’ You know, it is indeed a movie.”
‘Earnest and lovely’

For director Jason Reitman, who has had hits with Juno, Up in the Air and Young Adult, the film marks a slight departure from his usual style.

“Reading a book or a script for the first time that you’re considering directing, it’s either love at first sight or its not,” explained Reitman of the story, based on a novel by Joyce Maynard.

“I just clicked with this book. It made me weep. Having spent a career of just trying to make people laugh, it’s kind of nice to be after their tears.”

However one particular scene involving Adele, Henry and Frank making a peach pie could certainly diffuse the tension.

It bears striking similarities to the famous pottery scene between Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore in 1990 film Ghost.

“You know it’s funny, I keep on hearing this Ghost reference and it’s kind of awesome,” Reitman told the BBC.
Kate Winslet Winslet, whose third child is due in December, has been promoting the film at the London Film Festival

“The Ghost scene, and I guess my pie scene, boarder on being ridiculous. They’re an inch away from being satirical and yet they’re earnest and lovely.”

And he revealed pies actually played quite a large role on set.

“Joyce (Maynard) taught me to how to make a pie, Joyce taught Josh to make a pie. Josh made a pie every single day of this shoot,” said Reitman.

“You’d show up at his cottage and he’d be there in an apron, this picture of masculinity, talking about ‘look at the crust!’. He’d get all excited.”

Brolin said he honed his catering skills while working in a restaurant for three years when he was younger, but his career never took off as his father James Brolin had hoped he would be a lawyer.

“I like cooking very much, I cook for my kids all the time,” said Brolin.

“I cooked many pies, this is true. When you watch the film, we gain more weight. Every 15 minutes you see everybody a little bit heavier.”

Labor Day is being screened as part of the London Film Festival, but will be released across the UK in February.
